RAKIA Mural

Client: Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority (RAKIA)
Year: 2012
Location: RAKIA Headquarters, Ras Al Khaimah
Collaboration: FHSI Architects
Script: Jali Diwani
Scope: Custom calligraphy mural in illuminated, 3D cut lettering

In collaboration with FHSI Architects, Narjes created a custom calligraphy mural for the Chairman's Offfice at the Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority Headquarters.

The artwork features poetry verses of a century-old poem that reflects the history of Ras Al Khaimah, written in Jali Diwani script. The verses are a salutation: they greet the sheikhs, whose standing is high in glory, and the men of generosity, kindness and sound judgment. They greet the people of goodness and those who carry out great tasks, and honour the pride of the nation and its faith across the years.

The letters were cut and assembled in three dimensions across the wall and brought to life by light.
